The Majlis Shura of Darul Uloom Deoband met today in Deoband on the issues related to VC post. Maulana Gulam Mohammad Vastanvi offered to resign in Shura, but the resignation was not accepted. Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani Banarsi will be officiating Mohtamim (VC / Head) with full authority.
A 3 members investigation committee has been constituted to enquire the matters and controversies related to the VC post. ongoing situation after the resignation of Maulana Wastanvi.
In case the resignation is accepts, Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani Banarsi will become full-fledged Mohtamim.
It is noteworthy that Mufti Abul Qasim was also appointed Acting Mohtamim after the demise of last Mohtamim Maulana Marghoobur Rahman in Dec 2010.
Mufti Abul Qasim is a senior Member of the Majlis Shura (Exsecutive Body) of Darul Uloom Deoband and is well-known scholar of hadith, Mufti, orator and Shaikhul Hadith of Jamia Islamia in Varansi (Banaras) UP.
